Two Timelines for the BACH Project

This image was originally designed as the entry interface to the inner part of Dead Women Do Tell Tales, a computer game being designed about life in the past and now in Building 3 at Çatalhöyük. In it, you can see two timelines:

  • The upper timeline is the world of the NOW (BACH Project time) - the unfamiliar culture of the Çatalhöyük archaeologists: the people, the events, and the work of the BACH project. This timeline shows the years of the project moving in a familiar direction from left to right. To start on this track, we recommend the videos “The History of the BACH Project” and “Remember Me But Forget My Fate” and their related images that you can easily return to during your explorations.
  • The lower timeline is the world of THEN - the even less familiar lives of Neolithic people and places who lived at Çatalhöyük 9000 years ago. The timeline starts with the construction of Building 3 at the far right and ends with its closure and abandonment on the left. To start on this track, we recommend the videos “The Life History of Building 3” and “June13, 2002: Mira's Neolithic Tour of Building 3” and the related images that you can easily return to during your explorations.

The two timelines are linked throughout their histories. This is a fun concept to play with.....Is that convergence meaningful?
